Effective April 1, 2009, Travel Alberta is the legislated corporation that markets Alberta as a tourism destination regionally, nationally and internationally to assist Alberta’s tourism industry to market and sell their products.
Working in partnership with industry, Travel Alberta’s marketing is industry-led, market-driven and research-based. The new business model provides for improved governance, increased operational flexibility and a more focused marketing mandate.
About Us
Travel Alberta is the tourism marketing agency of the Government of Alberta. Governed by the Travel Alberta Act and a Board of Directors accountable to the Minister of tourism, Parks and Recreation, the mission of Travel Alberta is too manage the investment of Tourism Levy revenues effectively and efficiently in tourism marketing programs and services, and to generate measurable return for Alberta’s tourism industry and the Government of Alberta. Vision
Travel Alberta is the pre-eminent tourism marketing agency in Canada.
Mandate
In accordance with the Travel Alberta Act (section 3), the mandate of Travel Alberta is to:
* Market the tourism assets, attractions and opportunities present in Alberta in domestic, national and international markets,
* Promote Alberta as a destination for tourists,
* Assist Alberta’s tourism industry operators to market their products, and
* Exercise or perform any other powers, duties and functions authorized by regulation.
