Jefferson Lines and Jefferson Tours are operated by Jefferson Partners L.P., a Minneapolis, Minnesota based family company with roots extending to the early days of motorcoach travel.
Jefferson operates a fleet of modern coaches in passenger and express scheduled service as well as charter and tour services. Jefferson routes extend from Minneapolis to Dallas, serving eleven states in the heartland of America and the province of Manitoba, Canada. Jefferson's charter operation is located in Minneapolis, MN, offering motor coach charters, group tours and convention services in the upper Midwest.
Our Mission
From our home in America's heartland, we connect people with places. Our transportation company provides scheduled service and a full range of group travel services. We earn our customer's business by understanding what they value and require when traveling with us. Then we provide service that exceeds their expectations.
Management resides with the third generation of the Zelle family to actively participate in the Jefferson story. Founded in 1919, Jefferson was named after the Jefferson Highway, which ran from Winnipeg to New Orleans. One of the pioneers of the motorcoach industry, Jefferson has a rich history of civic and philanthropic involvements in the communities it serves.

Jefferson Lines employs 265 people, of whom approximately 150 are drivers. Jefferson Lines is a member of the American Bus Association, United Motorcoach Association, National Tour Association, and many other local visitor associations and chambers of commerce.
Jefferson maintains regulatory authorities for its routes and complies with all operational standards mandated by federal agencies (such as the Office of Motor Carriers), including all safety, environmental and A.D.A. requirements.

Safety Considerations
Motorcoach travel enjoys the safest record among all modes of travel. The Federal Highway administration's 1995 report of fatal accidents occurring in 1992 indicates that there were 14.0 accidents per 100,000 registered buses (including school, transit and over-the-road). For only over-the-road passenger carrier accidents, the Federal Highway Administration collected data from 1984-1988 and reported 2,922 accidents and 372 fatalities. Mechanical difficulties and bad weather are not reported as significant causes of accidents. Since safety is our No. 1 company value and because the causal factors of accidents are not easily categorized, safety training is given high priority: Jefferson has always been a safety leader in the industry.
Jefferson maintains comprehensive safety awareness and training programs for its staff. A full-time safety coordinator directs the Safety Department, which oversees these specific safety-related initiatives:
* Monitoring and adherence to DOT regulations for operator shifts
* Random drug and alcohol testing procedures
* Emergency training
* 24-hour emergency hotline for drivers
* Training in accommodating physically-challenged individuals
Jefferson's drivers training program is one of the most extensive in the industry. Each new hire driver receives a minimum of two weeks of classroom and vehicle training. In addition, the driver travels with veteran drivers for a minimum period of one week to gain further experience.
