Overview
The Herreshoff Marine Museum and America's Cup Hall of Fame are dedicated to the education and inspiration of the public through presentations of the history and innovative work of the Herreshoff Manufacturing Company and the America's Cup competition.
The Museum, bordering beautiful Narragansett Bay, in Bristol, Rhode Island, is one of the nation's most important historic maritime treasures. From 1863 to 1945, the Herreshoff Manufacturing Company, on the site of the present day Museum, produced the world's finest yachts on the cutting edge of design and engineering. The technical genius of Captain Nathanael Greene Herreshoff along with the business acumen of his brother John Brown Herreshoff, built the "better mouse trap" for which the world beat a path to Bristol.
Visitors are awed by the Museum's collection of sixty original Herreshoff boats, steam engines, artifacts, and photographs related to America's greatest naval architect and builder during "The Golden Age of Yachting."
The Museum regularly hosts classic yacht regattas, symposiums on classic yacht design and restoration, and operates an outstanding sailing school for youth and adults.
See presentations about the Herreshoff Manufacturing Company and the fabulous yachts that won trophies all over the world. Visit, join, and be a part of a great tradition.
