Dubuque, IA 52001
We are the only arboretum and botanical garden in the USA staffed entirely by volunteers. 375 dedicated individuals maintain the trees, plants and shrubs, and seed-gifts which are all labeled throughout the garden.
A special thank you to all of our guests and volunteers! In 2004 we had guests come from 37 of the 50 states and also had visitors from Europe, Africa and South America. Our guestbook logged 75,000 during our 2004 season. We had 375 volunteers reporting more than 14,500 hours in 2004. Our green team alone spent over 11,000 hours planning and planting the gardens for 2005.
Improvements are planned for 2005, including expanding the Formal English Garden, continuing work of the Japanese Garden including planting 90 trees, and adding new gardens near our new gate. A new sign will span the pillars of the gate. A stone memorial book now helps identify the Mr. McGregor's Children's Garden.
