About Us
China Eastern Airlines Co.,Ltd (CEA) is one of the biggest airlines of China. Based in Shanghai, the most energetic and advanced city of China, CEA not only has 9 domestic branches, but also is the controlling shareholder of China Cargo Airlines, China Eastern Jiangsu Airlines Co., Ltd and China Eastern Wuhan Airlines Co.,Ltd. The sub companies of China Eastern are located in 11 provinces of China.
CEA was established in June 1988 and has been growing rapidly for 18 years. In 1997, it successfully completed its share reform and was listed in Shanghai, Hong Kong and New York Securities Exchanges. Nowadays, CEA operates over 80 international and regional routes, over 330 domestic routes, which connect 110 cities in China and aboard. A world wide network based in Shanghai covering China and connecting Japan & Korea, Southeast Asia, Europe, America and Australia has formed, which provides a smooth air express for passengers at home and aboard. With the registered capital of RMB 2.558 billion and total assets of RMB 62.1 billion, CEA has 35,000 employees, 200 large-to-medium sized modern jets, comprising of A340-600, A340-300, A330, A320 series, B767 and B737 series etc.
For years, CEA has been making every efforts to raise the technical skills of pilots and maintenance ability of the engineering staff, and built up a group of qualified pilots and engineers. More than 500 pilots were awarded the Safety Medal by Civil Air Administration of China successively and 22 were awarded the title of Meritorious Pilots.
Service is essential for an airlines and CEA has its unique mission of its service. It puts forward "Limited Routes, Unlimited Sincerity", implements "Seamless Services", which covers ticket booking, check-in, transit, connecting flight, customs formality, and accommodation etc. We also promoted "Trans China", "Downtown check-in", and " Cargo service as a whole" service items that facilitated passengers and shippers, which has become competitive service brand of CEA.
CEA has been focusing on providing quality services for passengers and shippers. It established successively civilized service brands, such as "Lingyan cabin service", "Warm ground service", "MU express", "Eastern miles", "Trans China", "Quick transit", "Open counters" and "Eastern call center" etc. CEA is awarded twice the highest honor of flight safety in China aviation industry-----"Golden Eagle Cup", continuously the top one in "National Passenger Comments on Civil Aviation" event in "over 10 million" group. China Eastern transportation and service system have met the criteria of ISO 9002 quality guarantee system, and it was also awarded the "Five star diamond award" by the American Hospitality Service Academy.
In 2007, the status of Shanghai international Air Harbor will be primarily determined as the important component in the national strategy of developing civil aviation to thrive the country, which provides precious opportunity for the comprehensive, consistent and sustainable development of China Eastern Air Company. CEA has completely implemented the brand-new development strategy of "Backbone-Network Operation Mode Centered with Shanghai" in the major business of air transportation. A backbone network spread from Shanghai, Xi'an and Kunming, supported by Beijing, Guangzhou and Shenzhen and connected with Wuhan, Nanjing, Qingdao, Xiamen and Hangzhou will come into being soon. At the same time, by implementing the operation strategy of !Pay Equal Attention to Both Domestic and International Markets, CEA is now optimise and expand the international flight courses in a complete way so as to enhance the competitiveness of international and regional flight courses and participate in the international competition. The implementation of Backbone Network Strategy indicates that CEA has entered a fire-new development period in air transportation.
