The Balboa Fun Zone is one of Southern California's oldest and last great coastal amusement areas. Merry Go Round
Located on the Balboa Peninsula of Newport Beach, the Fun Zone continues to compete with Orange County entertainment giants such as, Disneyland and Knott's Berry Farm, as the fun place to go.
For a fun date at the beach or a night out on the town, Balboa Peninsula has had something for everyone for over 50 years. Many remember when the beat of the big bands was broadcast live over national radio from Balboa's famous Rendezvous Ballroom.
Balboa Pier
Whether it's basking on Balboa's pristine beaches or exploring the sites of this picturesque community, you'll find plenty to do. There's the Balboa Pier, built on the site of Glen Martin's historic the first water-to-water flight, from Balboa to Catalina Island in 1912, and is one of the few piers to survive undamaged by Southern California's destructive coastal storms of the '80s.
Balboa Island Ferry
There's the Catalina Flyer, one hour to Catalina Island. The Balboa Island Ferry, only one dollar. The harbor cruises, whale watching cruises, sport fishing, quaint shops and great restaurants.
Ferris Wheel
And, of course, there's the Balboa Fun Zone. Since 1936, the Fun Zone's ferris wheel has been a day and night landmark on the Newport Harbor scene, beckoning all to join in the fun.
Completely rebuilt from the ground up in 1986, the Fun Zone's ferris wheel,carousel, arcades, fun food, and shops still make it the highlight of every visit to Balboa.
