Auburn Botanical Gardens

The Auburn Botanic Gardens are set in on 9.2 hectares of lush parklands, where people can come to relax and enjoy the beautiful surroundings. Since the gardens opened in 1977, they have become a popular attraction for local residents and visitors to the area. Just 17 kilometres from Sydney CBD, the park features a spectacular Japanese Garden with traditional style Japanese landscaping including a waterfall, decorative bridges and ornamental trees set around a large lake.

Other popular attractions include:

The Fauna Reserve where you can see native animals such as kangaroos, wombats, wallabies and emus.
A sunken Rose Garden with roses flowering throughout October and November.
A Scented Garden with an undercover wedding pavilion.
The Australian Native and Rainforest gardens with many native plants and trees set around a shady billabong.
Peacocks, swans and native birds wander freely around the garden.
The tree lined reflection pool.
The Equal Access play ground has a large interactive play structure, a maze and a Liberty swing that can be used by children in a wheelchair.
Weddings

The Botanic Gardens provides a number of picturesque settings to hold a wedding ceremony or to take wedding photos, including the undercover wedding pavilion in the scented gardens, but bookings are essential. To book, please contact Councilís Booking and Facilities Officer on 9735 1395.

Bookings:

There are a number of areas in Auburn Botanic Gardens that are available for booking events. A fee of $165 per hour per section applies as well as a $150 bond. Conditions apply. For more information or to check availability contact Council's Booking and Facilities Officer on 9735 1222.

Easy Access:

Buses can enter the gardens through the Avenue of Remembrance and park near the equal access playground.

Hours of operation:

Everyday from 9am to 5pm during winter.

Weekdays 9am to 5pm during daylight savings, weekends and public holidays.

Hours of Operation:

9am - 5pm 7 days a week

9am - 7pm on weekends during summer and everyday in summer school holidays

Closed - Christmas Day

Admission: Entry free for Auburn LGA Residents, non-residents $3

How to get there:

The Botanic Gardens is located on Chisholm Road Auburn and there is plenty of free parking available. The Gardens can also be accessed by public transport. There are regular trains to Auburn Station from there a 909 bus will take you to Cumberland Road. All areas of the Botanic Gardens are wheel chair accessible.
